I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to get a piece of software called Trac installed on my computer. Two days. It’s true that Macs are supposed to be easy, and 99% of the time, they cooperate very nicely. Trac, however, lives in the foogy land of Unix, and it’s a pain in the butt to get installed.
Generally, even this should be really straight-forward, since it’s all done with this thing called a package manager that’s basically a little thing that figures out what pieces you need to install and does the installation for you, but it keeps blowing up halfway through, and I can’t get it worked out.
Today, I’ve decided to give up, which is unfortunate. Trac is a neat piece of bug-tracking software (e.g. your web site doesn’t display properly, etc.), but if I can’t get it installed, it’s not worth anything to me.
