Good Perspective
I was watching Ice Road Truckers earlier today (a very good show, by the way), and caught a wonderful comment from one of the truckers. Just to put it into context, these guys are the toughest of the tough. They cuss like sailors, brave the elements to do their jobs, and take chances with their lives every day.
The driver known as one of the most veteran drivers on the show was cruising along straight into one of the worst snowstorms of the year. He said a little prayer to his saint (hanging from the rear view mirror) asking for guidance. Then he turned to the camera and said something like, “People sometimes call me a hypocrite. I know I’m not the best example of Christianity, but I’m a lot better man than who I used to be!”
Incredible… that pretty much sums up the human condition. It’s amazing how such a simple and yet profound truth can come from the most unlikely places.
